it's been awhile since i've really sat down and written. i mean really let my heart do the talking. sometimes it seems easier to just show what's going on on the surface and let everyone think things are good or bad or indifferent. but i have more to say than what my flesh portrays. a lot more to say.
lately i've realized that i'm an adult. i'm "pushing 30" and i'm just now realizing that i am a grown woman. i feel like i should be scared about this, but instead i am empowered. i'm empowered because i realize that i am in control of my household. i am in control of my heart. i am in control of the life that i am deciding to live. i don't have to wait on anyone to approve or wait on anyone to lead me to the life i want ... and the life i want is a life completely dedicated to the Lord. and by completely i mean a life that is full of light with nothing lurking in the shadows. those shadows are really scary.
i used to think it was cheesy to pray about everything. i thought it seemed really super-spiritual. now i realize how wrong i was. the power of prayer changes everything. and i mean everything. it changes the way i view people who don't believe the way i do, it changes the amount of pressure i put on myself on a daily basis and it changes the relationship i have with the Lord. by committing myself to a life of prayer and constant communication with the Lord i am changing the the path that i thought i was on. i slowly am seeing myself walking hand in hand and with the Lord without trying to manipulate situations to feel like i'm walking with him. when you are literally letting the Lord guide your life everything around you changes.
one of my favorite quotes about prayer is, "the value of consistent prayer isn't that He hears us, but that we will hear Him." isn't that the truth? the power to be able to speak to the creator of the universe in itself will change us, but then the fact that if we actually are quite enough to listen to his reply ... that is when the real changes start to take place. i could list all the ways my life has changed over the last month but i won't. it's just something you will have to understand for yourself, but what i do know is that if the Lord blesses me with a husband and kids someday, or a job that pays lots of money or whatever the situation might be ... i want it all to be wrapped in prayer from the very beginning. i want prayer to be the language my life communicates in. let no decision be made unless i speak to my Father and listen for his definite reply.
i want prayer to be the anchor that holds me place. i want his words to change my life. i want my life to be a reflection of him.
and so i bring my petition of life to the Lord with my heart open wide knowing that the work he has started in me isn't over. i will speak with him openly and be quite enough to listen ... i have a feeling he has some wonderful things to say!
