this world seems to have so much to offer ... money, fast cars, success, delicious food, pretty babies, perfect weddings, handsome men, sweet kisses, good music, pretty nail polish, massages, laughter, hugs, unexpected text messages that make you smile ... and so on and so on. sometimes i find myself dwelling on how deeply i want these things ... only to realize that those things are not the actual prize. it feels strange to even say that ... but they really aren't.
the prize will never be received here on earth. the prize will come when i meet Jesus face to face and i am so overwhelmed by his love and beauty that i am speechless and all i can do is fall at his feet and worship him. that is what the prize is.
i pray so earnestly every day that my focus will shift from wanting what this earth can give to me to wanting what the Lord has already given to me. i pray my longing for the desires of my heart begin to diminish in the sight of what is truly going to happen in my future.
the truth is ... i might never have a handsome man love me. i might never have a beautiful wedding or pretty babies. i might never be a housewife or own an SUV. i might never eat the most delicious food ever made or kiss someone again. but what i do know is that i will see Jesus face to face. and i don't even have to hope that that will happen. i KNOW that it will happen.
i have been redeemed. i have been restored. nothing in my life is the same as it was. stone by stone i am building my life upon the only foundation that one should build their life upon and that is the foundation of the holy spirit, the savior of this world, the Lord Jesus Christ. nothing this world can offer me is even half as beautiful as this.

Stumbled on your blog weeks ago and enjoy your way with words! Had to comment here -- so, so beautifully expressed. Cheers to the future that we don't have to hope for, but know it in the marrow of our bones instead!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't put the feelings in better words than you did girl! Hugs and continued catching-up, even if it's only through texts, twitter or blogs~Nikki :)
