i know what i want.

i'm sitting here in the house myself and 2 friends rented at the beach. they went to dinner and i stayed in because i just felt like sitting and being quite. and so that is exactly what i have done.

silence is really wonderful. it gives you time to hear yourself breathing. to hear your heart beating and to stop for a second and reconnect with yourself. there is so much noise in the world that we don't listen to ourselves enough. i've been trying to listen to myself more.

one thing i keep thinking about is how hard it is to pray for the things i want. you would think when you know exactly what it is that you want ... praying for them would be easy, but for me it is the opposite. when i don't know what it is i want i can say "Lord, do whatever is your will. i'm confused so just do what you want." unfortunately when i know what i want it is hard for me to just flat out ask for it. it feels like asking for something so specific feels so selfish. as if the Lord doesn't already know my need.

so what i am learning is how to ask for what i want. specifically. i am learning to believe in myself and the way my heart is leading me. no more looking to others for approval on my decisions. it feels freeing and wonderful to sit and listen to a heart that knows what it wants.

although there is still nervousness associated with my feelings i am confident in my roll in working through them and obtaining my desired outcome.

so here's the deal ... know what you want, ask for what you want, believe in yourself and do what you know you should do. take some chances.

don't let your past hurts or fears scare you away from doing what it is that you want to do now. your dreams are right in front of you. just go for it!

chances are worth taking!
