after our night in switzerland we headed out on the train to paris. the train ride was really nice and the land of france was not what i expected, although i don't know that i really expected anything. the land was rolly and green with patches of huge fields of yellow flowers. beautiful.
at this point i had a pretty bad headcold but i was still trucking, although feeling and looking a little bit rough.
we arrived in paris, took the subway to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and walked around for a bit. we then went to the top of the arc de triumph. we had dinner at mcdonald's. i know i know but it was cheap and we knew it would taste good AND you have to have french fries in france. hello!
next we headed to the eiffel tower where almost there we ran into 2 friends of mine i haven't seen in almost 4 years. and it was a blessing. still can't get over the fact that i had to go around the world to see people who live about 30 minutes from me. i was so happy to see them!
going up in the eiffel tower was interesting. i'm not afraid of heights at all, but man ... it was really high up. but the view of the city was like nothing i had seen before. we waiting on the sun to go down and then headed back down to the ground to see it from below.
we got chocolate crapes to eat! um .... YUM!!! and then were totally surprised when the tower started to twinkle. it was wonderful!
we got a cab back to our hotel because my feel were bloody from blisters (i know i know). and had a great night in our adorable hotel. it was so cute with a terrace and everything. slept like a baby and then got up to go to the louvre and notra dame. both were wonderful. i could have spent all day in the louvre. having studied art in college i just loved seeing all the stuff that was in there.
we then headed to the train station to find out that our train home was completely booked. but we got on anyways and stood up in the bar the whole 3 hours back to switzerland. oh man i was tired and standing up was not on my top list of things to do but i really wanted to get home!
we made it back before to late and got to relax at kendy's house.
the next day we toured luzern, switzerland with kendy and the fam and finished spending all of our money on souviners and chocolate :)
we got a little sleep that night and then got up early to make sure we got to the airport to come home.
