i've had 2 american idol "sightings" in 1 week.
1.
tuesday chris sligh was at the office. before you go off spreading rumors, i think he met with every Christian label in town. he was a nice guy. at first i thought he was stuck up, but then i realized he was just shy. the other guy with him wasn't shy. i think he was another member of his band. anyways. i had seen him around the office and didn't think i'd get to meet him (i am an american idol fan but i try to keep my awe of celebrities out of the office since we work with some pretty cool people). so i went and got my hair cut (pictures to come later if i ever think it looks good) and i got on the elevator and there was chris, some guys with him, chad (a guy i work with) and josh (my roommates fiance and co-worker). i got on and made a joke about them holding the elevator for so long (because they did) and then i rested my forehead against the door. josh then introduced me to chris and the other guy. i put my hand out to shake chris' hand and he looked a little surprised that i did that. not in a bad way. just a little surprised. then i said bye and they got off the elevator. i have a poster of the top 12 american idol contestants on the outside of my cube and i put a big red X through the people that get kicked off each week and someone told me i should take it down since he was in the building and i was like "why? he knows he got kicked off. seeing a big red X through his face isn't going to remind him that he didn't win". they agreed and moved on.

today my friend danielle called me and said "hey what time is your lunch break? you should come to belmont and see melinda". i didn't know what she was talking about so she then informed me that today was the day that american idol was taping melinda coming home for tuesday's episode. so i rounded up a friend at work and we went to belmont to see her. we lined the road she drove in on with signs. i might be on TV but probably not. i'll let you know if i get in the shot of her coming down the road at all. she then got a road on belmont's campus named after her and she sang 2 song (she is really just as good as you thinks he is). i didn't get to meet her but she did look at me very appreciative that we had all come out to support her. it was really fun.
i get to do some really fun things, don't i?

do you remember sophomore year calling me one day at like 9:15 in the morning and trying to convince me to go to nashville with you? i was like, "for what?" you proceded to tell me that you were going up there to try out for american idol and you needed someone to come along. i was like, "nope. i got to go to class." ah. good memories.
